Kimberly Genevieve is a filmmaker, photographer, former mail carrier, devoted dog-mom, and movie nerd currently based in Los Angeles, California.
At the heart of everything she does is story and emotion. For Kimberly, a camera is a tool that generates empathy and connection, allowing her to step into other people’s worlds and understand who they are and where they come from.
Growing up in Canada, Kimberly was a curious kid who often felt isolated and disconnected. She turned her curiosity and attention to the film screen, finding comfort and connection through movies. She learned what the world was like by observing and paying attention to what others often missed.
At 7 years old, Kimberly hatched a plan to move to California. Visions of palm trees became her North Star, while movies and pop culture were her teachers. Though it took 17 years, her dream of moving to California finally came true in 2009.
Three years into her new life and adventure in Los Angeles, a mentor noticed her talent for capturing images and asked, “Have you ever thought of pursuing commercial or advertising photography?” As naive as she was at that time, Kimberly replied, “Wait, you can actually make a living doing that?”— and the rest, as they say, is history.
